Review Of 2014

Wow, I can’t believe we are already in 2015! 2014 went super quick and soo much happened. I went a week without technology, had & threw up afternoon tea at The Ritz, saw a fashion show at London Fashion Week, Milked A Cow, went on a road trip to Ohio, went to a Rodeo in Ohio (in a maxi dress!), had a photo shoot with my mum, went on a spa weekend with Hayley and finally made my own Christmas cards!

As well as all of that I had 2 holidays, brought a new car, broke my foot, went to the grand national, reunited with old friends, lost new friends and caught lightening bugs in America. To say it has been a quiet year would be a bit of an understatement. However, for some reason whenever anyone says to me “oh what have you been up to?” I never seem have much to report back, which in actual fact is a LIE!

I cant really say what my favourite thing of 2014 was as I have a lot of happy memories and ones that I will treasure forever. There have been some sad times as well, Matt & I know people that have ended relationships, lost family members and experienced a lot of sadness this year.

I am really excited to see what 2015 has in store for me, I know that one thing is for sure I am fly to VEGAS in April! I cannot wait, I am sooo excited! I have also started number 24 – its a bit hard to find something to take a picture of everyday, but I am excited to look back on them in a years time! There are 2 more things that I would like to cross of this year, but I am going to keep them for myself and surprise you all when I announce them! People often ask each other, what New Year’s resolutions they are making; I cant help but feel that you are setting yourself up for failure, especially if they are diet or fitness related. I have made 3 resolutions for this year, but these are things I started doing at the beginning of December:

Be Kinder To Myself – dont put too much pressure on myself to hit certain goals, just enjoy life

Make More Effort With Those That Make The Effort With Me – I am not great at texting people back or calling people, but I am concious that I dont want to lose friendships that I have, so I am going to make the effort more, especially with those that always make an effort to reach out to me.

Save At Least 12k By The End Of The Year – I already have about a 3rd of this saved, so its a reasonable goal, but one that I want to achieve to get my own home!

Have you made any resolutions for the new year? what were your favourite things of 2014?

It Could Only Happen To Me!

So, this week I had booked off 3 days to celebrate Matt’s birthday and I have been ill with Gastroenteritis since Monday AM which is really unfortunate as we have been to and from London to celebrate Matt’s Birthday and also for my Afternoon Tea at The Ritz. Thankfully, as I write this I am 48hrs symptom free and finally back to eating normally!

Matt had a great time snorkelling with sharks at London Aquarium and we had a lovely day walking round parts of London and the hotel we stayed at in the evening wasn’t too bad either! It was just a shame that I had been feeling really groggy and just generally not myself at all. Matt knew I wasn’t too feeling too great as I was off my food and just quite sluggish.

matt in the tank with the sharks – they were between 3-5 metres!

I was feeling really pants Wednesday Morning and took all my energy to shower, put my make up on and get ready, I have to say that if we hadn’t booked to go The Ritz I would have gladly stayed in bed all day. Whilst we were sat on the train and I was really struggling to keep positive and feel excited about going to The Ritz! My stomach was churning and I was feeling really queasy, we had 2 posh blokes sat next to us who were literally talking like they had silver spoons in their mouths. Matt’s face pulling and text messages to me about them did make me giggle and cheered me up temporarily!

We reached London Victoria and I had to make a dash to the loo…..I had to pay 30p for the privilege and the toilets weren’t that great! We jumped in a taxi to The Ritz and were greeted by a doorman who was so kind and guided us to where we had to go. As we entered the building I was overwhelmed with just how stunningly beautiful it is inside. The interior is out of this world, it has to be the most amazing place I have visited ever. At that point I really thought to myself that I just had to really try and enjoy myself as I was never going to get this experience again!

We headed down a hall and on the left hand side we were greeted and show to our seats. My chair was pulled out for me and our napkins were placed on our laps. I have never had that in any restaurant that I have been to! We were then brought out a lovely stand which had sandwiches and a selection of cakes and pastries, they all looked so delicious but I could think was ‘don’t be sick, where is the toilet, if you need to run to the loo don’t fall over in your heels’. I think Matt could see that I really wasn’t 100% as I normally would have jumped straight in, ate all the sandwiches and been the first one of us to try the cake. It just wasn’t happening; I think it took me a good 20 minutes to eat 2 finger sandwiches. The warm scones were then brought out… heart sunk and I thought ‘I can’t not try one’ so I picked a fruit one, cut it in half spread on some clotted cream and lovely jam. I took 1 bite and I knew that it was going down properly. I looked at Matt and simply said “I will be back in a minute”, I headed to the toilets as fast as my legs could carry me and was fearful of not falling over on the marble floor in my giant heels! I made it just in time to burst open a stall door and I can honestly say those toilets are the poshest I have ever been sick in! I freshened myself up and headed back to where we were sat. Matt checked I was ok and if I wanted to carry on, but surprisingly I had felt better than I had earlier in the day. So I finished my scone and had another and a Macaroon, but that was it, I had hit my limit. We had lots of lovely tea and the waiters were fantastic, but my experience wasn’t what I thought it would be and I really feel like I missed out on the true experience of Afternoon Tea at the Ritz.

We headed home and all the way home on the train, I was freezing – I think Matt thought I was crazy as he was quite comfortable! We got home I changed straight into some leggings and a Victoria’s Secret hoodie, chucked over a blanket and stayed in that spot pretty much for the rest of the night!

Matt left me at about 10ish and I feel straight to sleep. So my experience of Afternoon Tea At The Ritz, wasn’t quite what I expected, however I did it and it was a fantastic thing to do – I think I might have to treat myself to afternoon tea at a local tea house when I am feeling a bit better!

I have to say this week I have never felt so ill before and I am so thankful to be feeling so much better now. For anyone that knows me, it is really unlike me to be off food but I have never hated the sight of food so much! I am glad to have my appetite back!

Santa Actually Came!

I am sat here with a scrummy hot chocolate in my new starbucks mug a warmed mince pie and tangled on the TV, don’t you just love this time of year!

So we are in that inbetween period of Christmas and New Year, some of us are back and work and some aren’t, its that time of year where all the days roll into one and you get a bit lost! So I thought I would bring you some Festive Cheer and share with you the Traditions of our family Christmas and also what Father Christmas brought me in his sleigh!

So every Christmas Eve since I can remember my family and my grandparents have gone to Carols By Candlelight at one the churches nearby. I am not sure when, but at some point over the last 26years my Godfathers mum has joined us and we get a Chinese afterwards! We always have the back 2 pews in the church and sing our hearts out. This was mine and Matt’s 5th Christmas and the 4th time he has joined us on Christmas Eve, it is really nice that he has joined us in this tradition and I hope that if we start a family that we can make this a everlasting tradition within our family. This year, we decided to wear our Christmas jumpers… are a few photo’s!

When I was looking back at the photo’s I realised as always, I was the odd one out and didn’t have a Stag on my jumper! Oh well!

So Christmas Day & Boxing Day Matt & I have always split it between our families and this year it was his turn to be at my house on Christmas Day, so when he arrived we opened presents with him and he was really pleased with his wallet and skydive that I brought him. Then it was my turn to open my gifts……he always likes to play the joker and started off by giving me some coal! Then it was to open some smellies (which you can never go wrong with), then some lovely PJ’s, then a gorgeous blazer (I have wanted one for ages), then he handed me a Karen Millen Bag, which completely knocked me for six. Inside was a beautiful Champagne coloured dress and such a lovely shape too. I was then given another parcel, I ripped off the wrapping paper to reveal a lovely Versace Jeans Bag, the lining is stunningly purple. Instantly I was told to go and try it all on BUT not to take off any of the labels (that were covered in wrapping paper), I was so shocked and happy to find that it all fitted – my man did good!

When I went back downstairs my mum was a tad emotional…..I am not sure why!and Matt told me to empty the bag of all the stuffing and look in the pocket, so like a crazy woman I chucked out all the stuffing and opened up the pocket….and there it was…..Number 19 email confirmation of a reservation for 2 for Afternoon Tea At The Ritz! I was shocked and speechless and also a bit worried because the date he has booked it for was so close to his birthday! The surprises didn’t stop there, once I got over my amazement he told me to look in the pocket of my blazer…and there it was again….Number 25email confirmation of 3 tickets to London Fashion Weekend In February! That was it, I had to hold back the tears and just plant a massive kiss on his lips! Not only did I get a lovely outfit, I was given 2 things on my bucket list!

I honestly could not contain my excitement! I felt like I was on cloud cuckoo land! So the beginning of next year already looks to be a good one and all thanks to my gorgeous man!

I got lots of other lovely bits for Christmas including lots of new books to read and lovely smellies!

I am off to watch the rest of my movie now and will leave you all in peace! Have a lovely relaxing Sunday!
