It All Started As Something Random

Back in the early part of May friend at work turned to me & said “keep an eye on Facebook on Sunday – I am doing something random in Portsmouth.” I didn’t really think too much of it, perhaps she was doing a walk for charity or something, but when this photo showed up in my timeline I couldn’t help but laugh

I couldn’t believe the amount of coverage they got on Facebook and the amount of little kids that stopped them to have their photo taken and after setting up a Facebook page, how many parents were commenting saying “you made my child’s day” or “its great to see people finally giving something back and still doing something nice in the world”. A few days later they did a radio interview and were signed up to an agency to attend children’s birthday parties. The Portsmouth Power Ranger Phenomenam has just grown over the last few months and they continuously get good comments on their Facebook Page!

More recently they visited a local Zoo and spread the Power Ranger Joy to many kids and adults alike, they keep popping up all over the place and when they do, Facebook goes crazy!

To continue the amazing work they are doing with the public and genuinely putting smiles on kiddies faces, they have decided to suit up and climb Mount Snowdon on 24th August raising money for Wessex Heartbeat, They are a south coast charity who helped the blue ranger out in his time of need. Wessex Heartbeat’s driving ambition is to help achieve the very best care for people with heart conditions treated in the Wessex Cardiac Centre. They would love to raise £500 for their chosen charity, now I personally know 3 of the Rangers and I cant imagine them ever normally wanting to climb Mount Snowdon, but this charity and their fellow ranger must really mean a lot to them to want to give something back.

So if you would like to help the Portsmouth Power Rangers to raise some money, why not visit their just giving page http://www.justgiving.com/portsmouthpowerrangers & don’t forget to like their page on Facebook, just search for Portsmouth Power Rangers.

Italia Romance

Last year me & Matt were looking at going to Rome…..but unfortunately he had his skiing accident which wrote off any foreign travel idea’s we had! I ended up booking my holiday to America with my family for this summer & we just decided to save and save for Vegas in 2015 with our friends.

I have been on countdown for America now for a couple of months and I am getting a list together of things I need to take and things I want to buy….its starting to get a bit long! We also have all our money ready for Vegas and San Fran next year & just need to get it booked – which we are doing probably before I go away in June!

I have had a few days off from work this week and we went for a look around the shops, just for something to do and for me to have a look at some shoes suitable for doing walking in on holiday (I have narrowed it down to converse, Birkenstock’s or just plain pumps!). We walked past Thomas Cook and they had an amazing deal on for Thailand for 14 nights, just £599 (flights + hotel) unfortunately it was for 1st May & there was no way we could do that trip, but it got us thinking maybe Asia isn’t that expensive?! We grabbed some lunch and then walked past Thomson and I jokingly said

Let’s Book A Holiday!

I wasn’t expecting Matt to say yes – his standard response is

No, We Are Going To Vegas & San Fran Next Year & You Want To Move Out

So I was surprised when he said “Ok – But Where?!” as a spur of the moment, he came up with Rome – we decided it would have to be a long weekend we both have planned off over our anniversary in August (this decision making was literally done in about 30 seconds). We agreed we would see how much it is first and if it wasn’t expensive then we would go ahead and book it. Thomson quoted us the cheapest £859 for flights, hotel & transfers – that included 1 night free, I had no idea what Matt’s budget was, but I knew I really couldn’t justify anything more than £400. So I asked the agent to print off the quote and that we would grab a coffee and talk it over (thinking, I can probably find it cheaper online!). As we walked out Matt said we should go to Thomas Cook and see what they can do for us. So we went in and somehow managed to get 4 nights B&B, flights, transfers (including 1 free night) for £795, so it worked out at about £99 each per night, which came in under my budget – we thanked her and said we needed to make some calls and would be in touch. I called my boss, Matt called his and thankfully we both definitely had the time off given to us and we marched straight back in, transferred the money from the Vegas & San Fran pot and paid for it….so we are off to Rome in August!

I literally land in the UK from America on 7th July and Fly out to Rome 1 month later! Its all a bit mad and unexpected – but I am so excited to celebrate our 5th anniversary together in Rome!

So, if you have any recommendations of restaurants or places we should definitely visit (apart from the obvious) please send me your suggestions!

A Trip To The Farm

So time for another cross off the bucket list!

Sunday 13th April me and some of my friends and their little munchkins headed off to Manor Farm & Country Park in Hampshire where I was going to be Milking A Cow! My friend from work & fellow blogger Heather also came along and decided earlier this week that Milking A Cow was a rather random thing to do & fits in quite well with her blog (http://hpullan88.blog.com) so she was going to give it a go too!

I made the people at the farm aware that we both wanted to do it and surprisingly it wasn’t the first time that they have had someone there doing in because it was on their bucket list! We had a bit of a look round the farm first then it was the time….the farmer arrived & gave us all a bit of a talk about the cows and the milk (it was mainly for the kids – although we did all learn something!) and then it was ready steady go!

The cow that I milked is a Jersey Cow called Abigail, she is pregnant and her little calf is due in August.

After all that walking the kids wanted a bit more fun in the park and gave the adults a chance to sit down have a natter and enjoy some of the great south coast sunshine!

All in all I had a great morning at the farm & I am grateful to those that came to share this experience with me, alothough this is MY bucketlist it is a journey we are all taking together & I love that you were there to support and laugh at me today!
