Cupcakes & Cocktails

A few years ago now for my birthday I a Cupcake & Cocktail night with my girlfriends, we had such a giggle – I’m not sure if it was the cake or the alcohol that made us so giggly! So when my parents announced they were going away, I thought what a fab oppertunity to have the girls over and have another Cupcakes & Cocktails night! For those of you that follow me on Pinterest will know that I have been pinning cakes and cocktails like there is no tomorrow, I have also been shopping for some really cute bits! So whilst we are all having fun tonight boozing away, you all can take a look at what goodies I have in store!

The Cakes

I am really concious that I dont want to make too many cakes and end up with them left over at the end of the night, so I am going to be baking some Red Velvet Cupcakes…..I am hoping they might turn out like this

So Yummy!

So Yummy!

I also LOVE the ‘Pimp Your Cupcake’ ideas that are on Pinterest so I just had to give it a go, here are some of the designs I have seen on there, obviously mine will be cuter haha. For these I am going to do a mix of vanilla and chocolate sponge!

The Booze

So, its got to be cocktails! I am going to provide my lovely girls with 3 cocktails…

Sex On The Beach

Vodka – Peach Schnapps – Cranberry Juice – Orange Juice

Pina Colada

Pina Colada mix – White Caribbean Rum

A Total Virgo

If you follow me on Pinterest then you will know that I have been pinning loads of Virgo quotes recently, its crazy but every one that I read I just think – oh my god that is so me! So I thought I would share some of them with you & all you fellow Virgo’s can tell me if you thinks these match you too!

These quotes couldn’t be any truer, I am very strong willed and independent and would rather struggle and do something on my own than ask for help. On the other hand, I am so self conscious and always worry if I am a good enough girlfriend, friend, daughter, sister the list is endless. I always feel that I could be a better person to others & this year I made the decision that I was only going to have people in my life that show that they want me in theirs & that is truly difficult to accept that those who you want to be around, don’t necessarily want to be around you!

Yeah – I cant disagree with those either, I am a great listener to other people’s problems, but will rarely moan about my own and just keep it stored in. I think this is why I struggle with anxiety from time to time, but after almost 6 years I am starting to really tell Matt everything, whether it be bad or good!

virgo 9

Yup, I love a Starbucks! Whilst the grand gestures are nice, its the little personal things that count the most. I don’t overly like being the centre of attention so to just sit and chat with a friend or a family member is right up my street!

So we are going to be in Virgo season soon – that means many of us will be having birthdays coming up, how will you be spending yours???

Weddings Galore!

Since I have been asked to be a Bridesmaid x2, I have been assisting in helping the brides to fill up their pin boards on Pinterest, because of this my news feed (if thats what its called) has been full up of suggestions to do with weddings etc. So I thought, there must be hundreds, if not THOUSANDs of you out there that are planning weddings or thinking of the best way to ask your girlfriends to be your bridesmaids or maybe your fella is stuck with how to ask his brother to be his best man? Here are some bits that I wanted to share!

Best Man Problems??

If your man is anything like the other ones that I hear about, they ring their brother/best mate or have a chat down the pub, a few grunts here and there and boom – best man & ushers have been decided! I found these brilliant alternative ways of doing it….

How Cute!

How Cute!

I also saw these, you can buy these on Etsy through the shop called carinapaperco they are £2.54 each card and will be shipped from the US, so there will be postage on top too – I love these and if I was getting married, would make Matt send these out!

The Dreaded Seating Arrangement

I cant imagine that any couple that get married have no issues over the fact that Uncle Bob cant sit near Cousin Frank and Aunt Mary cant be anywhere near Aunt Carol! Once you have manged to decide who is sitting where, you need a really pretty way to tell everyone. All of these can easily be done at home, alternatively you can purchase them online too!

Here Comes The Girls!!!

Are you struggling on ways to ask your girlfriends how to be part of your big day? I have seen loads of different ways of doing it on Pinterest but these are my top 3 – there are just too many to pick from!

The Cake

I think that a wedding cake is really personal to the couple and I know in the states a grooms cake is really popular! Here are a couple of idea’s that I liked the look of & could probably fit any wedding!

So there you have it, just some bits I have been inspired by on Pinterest. I promise I am not planning my own imaginary wedding, but I wanted to share the gorgeous things I have seen!

Yummy’s In Vegas!

As you know I am headed out to Vegas in just under 6 weeks with Matt, my bestie and her fella! I have been doing some research on places to eat as I love trying new restaurants and experiencing new foods. So I thought I would put together some info for you that I have gathered and maybe it will inspire your upcoming trip to Vegas too!

First Stop is Sugar Factory ( I have seen a lot of pin’s about this place on Pinterest and when I found out they do a S’Mores Cocktail and Carrot Cake Pancakes as well as Pick & Mix I was sold! Now I am not sure if they do all of those at the Vegas Café, but I am sure there will something on the menu that will tickle my taste buds!

I have never been for brunch, buy whilst on holiday and in Vegas the question has to be “Why Not?!” So I did some hunting and found Buddy V’s ( It’s TLC’s Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro’s restaurant in the Grande Canal Shoppes. They don’t just do brunch, they also have Lunch, Dinner, Afternoon & a Desserts menu on offer! I had a look at the Brunch menu, firstly its served buffet style (in my eyes you can never go wrong with!), they offer an all you can drink option for $14.95 and the brunch is $34.95 per head, which considering how much is on offer and the good quality of the food I didn’t think is too bad!

Whilst I was looking at some Vegas bits on Pinterest, I stumbled across a pin about Peppermill Fireside Lounge ( ). Initially the picture of a log fire in what looked like a club caught my attention & I thought let’s have a look to see what this is all about! So they have a restaurant and a bar, I have had a look at the menu for the restaurant and its typical American food at a reasonable price – you can’t go wrong! Then I had a sneaky peek at the drinks menu at the bar and their cocktail list is one to be challenged, they also host a happy hour. I definitely want to give this place a visit, even if it’s just for a cocktail!

One of mine and Matt’s favourite places to visit in the stats is Applebee’s we love the food and the atmosphere, so we will definitely make sure we visit one whilst in either Vegas or San Fran. We aren’t opposed to trying chain restaurants and there are 2 that have stuck in my mind from when I was in Indiana last year, Dicks and The Cheesecake Factory! When we had a Vegas “meeting” back in January I was really pleased when Steph & Dan mentioned Dicks too. So for those of you that don’t know, servers at Dicks restaurant pretty much abuse you from the minute you walk in the door. They are well known for their sarcastic comments and taking the mickey out of you! I just think it would be hilarious and something that you would never get in the UK! What is there to say about The Cheesecake Factory……it serves Cheesecake!

I hope I have given you some food for thought and PLEASE share any recommendations you have for me!

Bridesmaid Duties Part 3

I cant believe how long it has been since I have written a blog about my bridesmaid duties! To be honest, there is a lot I could tell you about my duties as being Hayley’s bridesmaid and helping to organise her Hen Party in November, but she reads this and I don’t want to spoil the surprise!

However, I haven’t written this as a meaningless blog (well, some people might think it its!) as I wanted to share with you all that my bridesmaid duties have INCREASED. My cousin Trina is due to get married in July this year & originally decided that she didn’t want to have bridesmaids, so when I got a text from her on Tuesday asking if I wanted to be her bridesmaid, I couldn’t say no! I have to say, its going to be a mad few months as we need to get dresses and a hen party sorted but her laid back attitude I am sure will keep the bridal team calm!

At the moment, I am part of  2 wedding pin boards on Pinterest, trying to remember what secret I cant tell what bride and I’m not even organising the whole day!

I have to say though, although my holiday to Vegas is motivation, the fact I need to get into a bridesmaid dress in 6 months time has spurred me on and I went back to the gym tonight for the first time in over a month! I also need to get rid of my Christmas chocolates!!!

So over the coming months, I am sure there will be lots to fill you in on so keep your eyes peeled, oh and just to keep you entertained here is a gorgeous picture of me and Trina!

Blogging To Christmas Part I

Part 1….Christmas Gifts

There are always things that you are guaranteed to either get as a gift or give as a gift at Christmas and unless you have said that you want these specific items, you then have to put on a ‘wow, thank you for this gift, I will never use it, but thanks!’ smile, although some people don’t open their gifts in front of you BUT I bet your bottom dollar that they will still make that “face” when they open it at home! Now I am not saying I am the best gift giver there is, blimey I have already brought things for people that I am hoping they will like, but I may have got it wrong and yes, they are some of the above!

This year, I am trying to do something a bit different, I am hoping (I say hoping as I may run out of time) to give a “open me now” gift to some of my friends, so that the Christmas joy can start a little early!

Something I always used to enjoy doing when I was younger was writing a Christmas list, it was endless, there was always something that I saw in the Argos catalogue that I wanted and as I grew up there was DVDs and CDs that I wanted, so I never struggled to find anything to ask for. The other day my parents asked me for a list, a list at the age of 26! I really struggled and there ended up being 10 things on there, just 10! 15 years ago I know I wouldn’t have struggled at all, oh how times change!

So, I hear you ask what have I put on my list this year……

The Merry Christmas Gift Box From Lush, it includes 5 products, they are all either bath bombs or bubble bars – so they will keep me going for a few months

Kate Spade small square stud earrings in pink. On Nordstrom at the moment they have 25% and they are sooo pretty!

Nice make up brushes, I currently have 2 make up brushes a kabuki brush and a bronzer brush that I have had for 18 months, but to go with that and to cross something off my list I have asked for a 90minute make up lesson with MAC and a MAC gift voucher.

The one person I really struggle to buy for is my boyfriend. He is so particular with his clothes and things he wants it’s really hard to make sure you have got the right things! Although this year, I have been thinking about it for a while and I am hoping that I have got him something’s that he will really like and something’s I will really like on him hahaha!

Now if you are stuck on what to get people and would like to get some DIY ideas, why not follow my Present Idea’s board on Pinterest? Here is a link to the page

Well I am going to sign off now and start looking at what I have left to buy as I am going Christmas shopping with my mum tomorrow and I am hoping to cross a few more things off the list!

Have a lovely evening xxx

Bridesmaid Duties Part I

Well I don’t think I have shared this with you but I am going to be a bridesmaid in 2016 to a good friend of mine and I thought I would share with you over the next year or so the story of my journey to being a bridesmaid!

It all began in February 2012 my friend Hayley who I work with accidentally proposed to her long term boyfriend Lee via text on 29th February (a leap year!) and he said yes!

I Don't Think Hayley Expected A Yes!

I Don’t Think Hayley Expected A Yes!

About a month after that he got in contact with me to say he wanted to come into work to propose to her and give her the ring that she chose! I was super excited to be involved in the secret planning until Hayley starting panicking as to why the ring hadn’t arrived and why had Lee changed his password to his account so she can’t see any updates! It was hard telling her she was worrying too much and that she just needed to relax! She soon realised why when she got the biggest shock of her life and he was knelt down beside her on one knee in front of the whole office!

About a month or so after that, I got a text from Hayley asking if I would be her bridesmaid! I was completely shocked as it was sooo unexpected and I had never been an ‘adult’ bridesmaid before, of course I said I would be honoured and I even got a bridesmaid badge to wear at their engagement party last September!

Over the last 18 months Hayley and I have set up a wedding board on Pinterest and we are constantly pinning things on there – Hayley & Lee have decided on a Somewhere Over The Rainbow theme for their wedding inspired by Hayley’s love of The Wizard Of Oz! So there are LOADS of ideas on Pinterest and Hayley had come to the idea of a short dress for her and us bridesmaids with us each having a colour – I am yellow!

The Link for our pinboard is

Hayley messaged me a few weeks back to say she had booked an appointment at a friends bridal shop to try on some dresses and see what she liked, so we headed down after work and met up with her sister and niece and watched Hayley try on some amazing dresses, it was lovely to see her out of her comfort zone and realise she DOES have an amazing waist hidden under her baggy clothes! Me & Livvi (Hayley’s niece) even got to try on a bridesmaid dress when Hayley thought she had found the dress to see if went with hers! When we left Hayley seemed pleased with her choice, but I was suprised as she hadnt tried on a shorter dress and our dresses were long…now I know people can change their mind but I couldn’t help wondering if Hayley was 100% happy with her choice – but I know what she is like and wouldn’t say anything!

Look At All The Gowns!

Ignore The Black Bra Straps!

Ignore The Black Bra Straps!

Overthe weekend Hayley text me to say she was having 2nd thoughts about the dress and isn’t sure if she really liked it and thought she wanted a 50s style dress, I told her to make another appointment and try on a shorter dress just to see how she feels in it and reminded her that she hadn’t put a deposit down on the original dress so she wasn’t tied to anything! It left me thinking about the bridesmaid tea party we are going to this Sunday and hoping Hayley would find some inspiration from there…..
