The Next Big Adventure

Myself and Matt last had an adventure to Rome in August last year for a long weekend which was fantastic! I was really apprehensive at first after not really enjoying Venice, but they are 2 completely different cities and I LOVED Rome and would definitely want to go back, not to do touristy things (as we did most of that) but just to relax and soak up the culture and people watch!

Fun In Rome

Fun In Rome

Our next big adventure is in April with my best friend and her partner, we are heading out to Vegas for a week then going to San Francisco for a few nights whilst they go to LA. I have been doing some research of things to do in San Fran and also reading up on some blogs and chatting to people that have already been. I have put together a Wish List of things for us to do on our next adventure and I wanted to share with you all!

FOOD!

So with everything I read, people are raving about the seafood, I am not a big fish lover, but I am not adverse to trying new things. I have also been reading about sourdough bread, ice-cream and burritos! So here are a few places I plan on eating at!

First stop Boudins Bistro, this place has been recommended by 2 different people so for me that straight away says we need to make a pit stop there! It looks to be right by Pier 39 and there is also a Museum and a Demonstration Bakery, the menu looks amazing and they seem to be the “Kings Of Sourdough!”

It Just Looks Yummy!

It Just Looks Yummy!

I cant go somewhere new and not try out some Ice-Cream, next on the list is Bi-Rite Creamery, who like to use local produce and as such their ‘Balsamic Strawberry’ is only available in the Summer. For locals that love this place the fact that flavours come and go dependent on the season, must make their trip there even more exciting! I have been taking a look at the Ice-Cream flavours and I have to say Banana Fudge Ripple and Malted Vanilla with Peanut Brittle and Milk Chocolate Pieces have definitely caught my eye!

Hmmmm Ice-Cream!

Hmmmm Ice-Cream!

Things To Do

The Golden Gate Bridge, do you walk it, cycle it, drive it or fly it? So many options and every option people seem to love! My fella wants to drive it, but I like the sound of cycling over it, taking some snaps of the bridge at Vista Point, then heading onto Sausalito take a look round the small town, grab a bite to eat and head back to San Fran on the ferry!

I Hope Its Not Too Foggy When We Visit!

I Hope Its Not Too Foggy When We Visit!

One of the main reasons Matt picked San Fran was because he wants to go to Alcatraz, I have been doing some research and one of the best tours to do is the night tour, but unfortunately it is only on Thurs-Mon and its going to be too tight to visit on the Monday evening so we will have to settle for a day tour!

Imagine Walking Through There At Night!

Imagine Walking Through There At Night!

So far, apart from go on a Tram, these are the only real things we have set out that we definitely want to do! So if you have any ideas or suggestions of places to go, things to see, where is best to eat then please please please comment below and help me out!

Get It All Off My Chest!

Hello All!

I seem to have been neglecting you all for a while and I am sorry for that! My brain has been going into over drive recently with lots of things whizzing around that I am trying to make sense of! I won’t bore you with the details, actually I think I will!

As you have probably guessed I LOVE to do my nails and whilst I was hunting round various Sephora stores in Rome, I thought to myself “oooh I want to get a home gel kit” which then turned into “oooh maybe I go back to college and learn how to do nails and maybe do it as a side business”. I have researched various different course and companies and looked at all the start-up costs, but realistically I would be spending out approx £1000 until I have either fully trained myself up and got all my equipment and then is it really worth it? Would I get the business? Would I still love doing nails if I did it up to 10 times a week? At the moment, it’s a no; I have managed to talk myself out of it. It’s still very much in the back of mind and maybe something that I do look at in the new year – I think I need to stop being so negative about it and just actually do something for me once in a while!

I have closed a door in my life that I was keeping ajar as a “just in case”, that clearly wasn’t worth leaving open. The only thing about that is that I am going to have to amend my bucket list – what with I’m not sure – but I will keep you updated!

I have also been looking into my finances and trying to make sure that I can actually start saving for a mortgage, I started doing really well, then I brought Little Dot and went on holiday, but I have started again and I have been looking into fixed savings accounts where I can’t touch the money for 2 years. I am pretty jam packed for the next couple of weekends so on my next free Saturday I am going to go into all the banks and see what they can offer me so I can start properly getting my finances in order!

I have been thinking about my bucket list and some of the things I have left, mainly learning Yoga or Pilates/reach size 12/run the race for life. As I broke my foot I haven’t been to the gym for some time and I was planning to go back this week but I recently got an email from my gym to say they were closing the gym for 10 days due to an upgrade! So I am going back 1st September and I am going to GO FOR IT. We have 8 months till Vegas, so 8 months to lost about 1/1.5 stone and tone up. I can do it!

Phew that felt good to get things off my chest!

Thoughts Have Turned To The New Year

Tonight, whilst watching Miracle On 34th Street (the ’94 version!) my thoughts have turned to what events I have planned in 2014!

I have a big holiday planned with my family in the Summer to stay with my godparents for 2 weeks, I am also booking our Vegas trip next year, so money is going to be a little bit tight! So next year will be more about cheaper things to cross off the list! So my plans for next year, as well as anything else that comes along……

1) Girly Spa Break
2) Milk A Cow
3) Make My Own Christmas Cards
4) Stay Up All Night Watching Movies
5) Run The Race For Life

Ok, so Girly Spa Break…..I need to do some research and find somewhere that me and a friend can really go to town have some lovely treatments and some even better food! Milking A Cow…..I can do this at a local farm and the experience runs daily and I only need to pay to get in (so any friends reading this that would like to join me, please feel free!). Make My Own Christmas Cards…..I wanted to do that this year, but left it a little late, so I am going to raid the craft shops in the January sales and get some bits throughout the year! Stay Up All Night Watching Movies…..I need to put a movie set list together and put one Saturday night aside with my man and have popcorn, pick n mix and yummy drinks and go through a Harry Potter Marathon or Hangover Marathon or maybe even Avengers Marathon! Run The Race For Life……this requires ALOT of motivation from me! I can currently run half a mile and the race for life is 5k which is approx 3.1miles, so I have a bit of work to do, but I am confident I can do it! The Race for life is taking place in my local town in July….so I have approx 7 months to be able to run and be confident in running it without stopping!

Over the past few weeks, my thoughts have really turned to moving out and getting myself a little house, so I really need to start saving and stop splurging! So I have tried to be a bit more inventive with my Bucket List. Whilst I would LOVE to jet off to Africa and go on a real Safari, the cost is just insane and it isn’t always guaranteed you will see all the animals. So I have googled Longleat Safari Park tonight, as I have been before but remember seeing something about a VIP experience and they do have VIP Safari Tours ranging from Bronze to Platinum and prices start from £85pp. Now, I know I am meant to be saving money, but if I cant do the real thing (unless any travel agents want to send me on holiday and I can review it for them!) I am going to have to settle for 2nd best. So I have my eyes set on the Gold VIP Safari Tour, which is approx 6-7 hours and includes Tiger Feeding, Lion and Cheetah experience, Behind the scenes tour, Giraffe feeding – it looks rather cool! So that is definitely an option for me to save a few grand for the house pot! That just leaves Vegas, Boston and New York as the most expensive costs!

Well I am starting to look forward to 2014 and all that it has in store! Do you have anything exciting planned for 2014?

Eat, Drink & Be Merry!

Christmas In New York

I changed my desktop photo at work today to the Christmas Tree at The Rockefeller Centre in New York, for me that is a beautiful Christmas scene. Whilst working through all our Christmas movies, I have noticed that the majority of Christmas films are set in New York, now I LOVE New York and all it has to offer, but there most something extra special about it for so many Writers/Producers to pick it as their location for their Christmas Movie.

Now, as you know on the bucket list I have to experience Christmas in New York. Mainly to see what all the fuss is about AND to see that tree! So I have been doing a spot of research to see what sort of things I can get up to when I go. At the moment I haven’t decided if I will go over Christmas or just in the lead up to the big day, so if your planning to spend some of the festive season in the Big Apple, why not check out some of these idea’s!

Top Of The Rock One of 2 places to view the famous New York Skyline, of course the other is Empire State Building. Top Of The Rock is open 365 days a year and is $27 per adult. Personally I prefer Top Of The Rock as you can see the Empire State Building and Central Park, there is 3 floors to view and no extra cost to do all 3 either. I have been up here 2 times on previous visits and I would definitely love to do this Christmas Eve! If you are in the area of Rockefeller Plaza then you MUST see that tree and watch the ice skaters!

Radio City Christmas Spectacular This show has been running since 1933 and I can remember when I first visited New York in 2005 and we did a tour of Radio City – this was one of the things they really told us about. Each year, I see people getting excited on twitter about going to see the show! I imagine it to be a bit like our version of Panto but 10 times better! I would definitely love to see one of the shows! I have looked and tickets for 2013 range between $45-$115, I guess it is like any show and depends where you sit!

Store Windows I have heard that the stores in New York really go to town at Christmas with their window displays. Macys in particular keeps popping up and also their Santa land! I would imagine that the store windows and their Christmas Departments get VERY busy, so I would recommend going as soon as the store opens to avoid the rush! The store windows I would like to see are; Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Tiffany’s, Dylans Candy Store, Saks, Barneys, FAO Schwartz. Now whilst you can walk round the stores I have found a bus tour that I would love to do called Holiday Lights & Movie Sites Tour through City Sights NY, it is $38 for an adult and $28 for a child. It looks to be a really good tour!

Horse & Carriage Ride Through Central ParkI would love to do this especially if there is a layer of snow, getting all cosy with a loved one under a blanket and perhaps a hot chocolate in a Red Starbucks Cup! I know the horse and carriage rides are expensive, but its only Christmas once!

Christmas Shopping If you are shopping for yourself or for others, I would always recommend a trip to Woodbury Common Outlet. It is approx. 45minute bus ride from Port Authority, but it is a massive outlet. unfortunately it isn’t under cover – so I would recommend you wrap up warm. I have always brought my ticket through City Sights NY (they are the tour guides that wear the yellow jackets!) and I think it is about $42!

Christmas Train Show For anyone who knows my boyfriend, you will know that he has a love of trains, not in a train spotting way, but he just likes trains! So as I can imagine I will be going to NYC with him, I have found 2 places with Christmas Trains! The first is at New York Transit Museum Gallery Annex which I believe is free and boasts a 34-foot-long display! The second is at New York Botanical Garden and this is definitely one that we will be visiting! It includes scaled versions of iconic New York Buildings and lots of other exciting things!

So as you can see I have found a few things to do, the only thing I need now is some suggestions of places to eat on Christmas Day! So if you have any recommendations PLEASE get in touch!

Happy Holidays!

Catch Up!

Hello Everyone,

Really sorry that I haven’t been around much over the last week or so. We have been house/dog sitting for my boss and it was far more exciting to play with Chester than to blog! ha ha!

So, how have you all been? I have been reading a book about bucket lists called The Wish List, I read it in 2 days! It was fantastic, could not put it down. It made me realise that I need to think about the smaller items on my list! So, whilst I was at Birdworld this weekend, they had a mini farm and I was thinking that I need to find out as to where I can milk a cow! So I am going to do some research to local farms and see what is about!

Matt has his return to work meeting tomorrow and we will hopefully find out when he will be able to take some annual leave when he returns so we can hopefully book a holiday! I have this niggling feeling that the dates he can take will be dates I cant. I have been thinking that if that is the case, I might take a roadtrip (No. 13) to Plymouth to see one of my oldest friends for a couple of days, or I might look into going to Boston by myself for 3nights so next year me and my cousin can just go to NYC in the fall! I have things to plan and think about so its not too bad I guess!

I have worked out that there is approx. 21 weigh in’s left until Christmas! So I am aiming for at least 1lb a week, that is at least a stone and half by then, which I will happy with but would prefer to hit target by Christmas! I need to start taking Slimming World more seriously and stick to the plan!

Well it is August and that means it is my Birthday Month!! Wahoo!!! I will be 25 on 30th August, I have left all the celebration planning to Matt. I have told him the people that I would really like to be there and left him to sort the rest. I am slightly nervous as to what he has planned, but I am sure it will be ok! I have 5 years left to finish my list, plenty of time, I have 27 left to do! Mental note – really need to start going back to Yoga!!!

Well ok, its 10.30pm and I really need to get some sleep! I will update you tomorrow night as to what has happened and if me and the fella will be going away!

Much Love

Working Out The List

Hey all!

Hope your all ok, just wanted to start with a positive that is completely unrelated to my bucket list, BUT I got my half stone award at my slimming club last night! Soooo pleased!

Ok so….I figured that to achieve my list I need to cross off 6 things each year, there are 7 foreign trips so I ideally need to do at least 1 a year…..I’m thinking of crossing off the Eiffel Tower or Trevi Fountain this year so then I just have the states and a safari to cross off!

I think that is what is going to make me fail! I’m pretty sure that I will be able to do all the rest & probably within the next year, it’s just the trips abroad I might struggle with!

Oh we’ll apart from buy my own home, that won’t happen in the next year….ha ha ha, I’m clearly not made of money!

Right, I’m off! I want to get something crossed off my list by June!

Night
