Summer Wishes!

Sat at work the other day, my thoughts turned to summer and what mischief I can get myself into! I am a big winter lover, but there is something about clear blue skies and the sun shining that just puts a smile on my face!

So I got my thinking cap on and browsed through Pinterest of some Summer Bucket List’s and got some ideas together!

Have A Picnic

I am a big foodie as you all well know and I am quite lucky to live near the beach, a national forest and lots of lovely open space so why not pack up some food and head out for the day! So what do you pack for a picnic? What are your favourite things? For me, its tuna mayo & cucumber sandwiches or maybe some cheese and pickle sandwiches. Mix it up with some vegetable sticks and dips, even some humus might do the trick! You can’t beat some marshmallow & strawberry kebabs either, oooh or even some chocolate dipped strawberries! Play a few games of Frisbee or maybe just laze about and catch some rays, definitely a picnic on the cards for the summer!

Strawberry Picking

When I was younger I knew summer had arrived when my mum and dad would take me to the strawberry fields and we would pick a couple of punnets and come home and me and dad would always have them with condensed milk! Last year, I didn’t get round to picking any strawberries as we were away for 2 weeks and I had broken my foot! This year however, I will definitely be going to pick some strawberries, maybe even take our nieces!

Enjoy An Evening Drinking In The Sun

For those of you that don’t know, our house has always been an open house and quite often will hold impromptu evenings in front of the fire in the summer drinking and snacking and just having a laugh. They are my favourite evenings, when it’s just random and chucked together and they often tend to be the best evenings too, so although it’s on my idea list, I know it will happen at some point anyway!

Of course, those are just little ideas of things that I would like to do, there are loads of other things you can get up to. You could visit the zoo, have a water fight, host a BBQ, play rounder’s, go crabbing! The list is just endless, why not tell me what some of your favourite things to do in the summer are, you might even inspire me to do something different!

The End Of The List!

21. Look After My Godchildren For The Day By Myself

21. Celebrate My 30th Birthday In Style

OK, so I have decided to alter this one, it was going to be to have a massive 30th birthday party, but I had a party for my 18th & 21st, so I have decided that I will celebrate my 30th birthday in style. This could mean anything from a giant party, lovely meal with my closest family and friends or just an open house, but as long as I enjoy myself and there is lots of photos I will be happy!

I have a couple of idea’s of what sort of party I would like, but to be honest, I’m not going to think about this one too much until a couple of years down the line as I have only just turned 26!

It All Started As Something Random

Back in the early part of May friend at work turned to me & said “keep an eye on Facebook on Sunday – I am doing something random in Portsmouth.” I didn’t really think too much of it, perhaps she was doing a walk for charity or something, but when this photo showed up in my timeline I couldn’t help but laugh

I couldn’t believe the amount of coverage they got on Facebook and the amount of little kids that stopped them to have their photo taken and after setting up a Facebook page, how many parents were commenting saying “you made my child’s day” or “its great to see people finally giving something back and still doing something nice in the world”. A few days later they did a radio interview and were signed up to an agency to attend children’s birthday parties. The Portsmouth Power Ranger Phenomenam has just grown over the last few months and they continuously get good comments on their Facebook Page!

More recently they visited a local Zoo and spread the Power Ranger Joy to many kids and adults alike, they keep popping up all over the place and when they do, Facebook goes crazy!

To continue the amazing work they are doing with the public and genuinely putting smiles on kiddies faces, they have decided to suit up and climb Mount Snowdon on 24th August raising money for Wessex Heartbeat, They are a south coast charity who helped the blue ranger out in his time of need. Wessex Heartbeat’s driving ambition is to help achieve the very best care for people with heart conditions treated in the Wessex Cardiac Centre. They would love to raise £500 for their chosen charity, now I personally know 3 of the Rangers and I cant imagine them ever normally wanting to climb Mount Snowdon, but this charity and their fellow ranger must really mean a lot to them to want to give something back.

So if you would like to help the Portsmouth Power Rangers to raise some money, why not visit their just giving page & don’t forget to like their page on Facebook, just search for Portsmouth Power Rangers.

Bridesmaid Duties Part 2

Sunday Me & the moon boot met up with Hayley, Sarah & Livvi for a Bridesmaid Tea Party at Para Siempre in Fareham. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive after our last session and was worried we wouldn’t find anything, but Lou was lovely and put us all at ease, I think the cupcakes & Bucks Fizz definitely helped with that!

We started to hunt through the dresses whilst Hayley was showing Lou her book for the wedding and Livvi found her dress straight away and me & Sarah found 5 that we liked and wanted to try on. We also took a look at the wedding dresses for Hayley and she found quite a few that she liked and even tried on a shorter one that she liked! The store was adorable, and the amount of dresses she had was brilliant, there was a lot of choice and each dress looked really unique, even the chairs she had were really cosy! We definitely enjoyed ourselves!

Now I do have to say that I am really limited to what pictures I can share with you today as me, Sarah & Livvi all believe we have found the dress that we want to wear, we have a couple of options and I don’t want to post them and spoil the Surprise! Now when we were trying on dresses me & Sarah soon realised that all the dresses we picked were of a similar style, luckily the one we picked we both thought would flatter us both & Helen (who is chief bridesmaid) and Lou has said for our next appointment in August, she will aim to get some more sizes in stock. There were a various amount of sizes, but the dresses we liked were either too big or too small, but with “magic” clips you would never have known!

Not only were there a lovely selection of dresses, there was also accessories dotted about and whilst Sarah & I were hidden by the curtain (in a changing area big enough for 3 people!) I think Hayley & Livvi were enjoying sampling the accessories and the free mints!

Once we were all dressed out and happy with our choices Lou was writing down our date for our new try out session, she gave Hayley a goodie bag containing information of people she would recommend for hair, make up, photography, cakes etc poor Livvi looked so disappointed as it contained a massive lollipop. Lou then handed out another 3 goodie bags to Livvi, Sarah & I and Hayley said we all looked like we were ready to do a jump for joy!

As we left the store we were all really pleased with how our afternoon went and were in giggles with the amount of mints Livvi had consumed! She then went on to say “mum I need a belt!” we weren’t sure what she meant until she erupted in a fit of giggles and we realised she had a pocket full of mints!

Out Of My Comfort Zone!

So a few weeks ago Matt told me that he had booked for us to go to Go Ape on Easter Sunday, I was quite apprehensive at first not because of the heights involved but because of my weight and how lumpy I would look in a harness and how much the zip wire would dip when I went down there! Matt reassured me and said I would be fine, my friend and fellow blogger Heather also said I would have a great time and that there was nothing to worry about…..

When we woke up Easter Sunday the rain was just pouring out the sky and my first thought was

I’m going to get soaked!

I have no waterproof jacket so had to borrow my brothers and borrowed one of his old hoodies too as there was no way I was going to get a Victorias Secret Hoodie ruined!

We headed off to the forest and the rain slowly started to ease up – headed off to the cabin and was told we were a bit early and to talk a walk around….as we did a massive clap of thunder and bolt of lightening struck and we were told that they were closing for 1/2hr to see if anything came off the storm. We headed over to the cafe and had a hot chocolate and some cake. Luckily the storm didn’t develop and we were able to get going!

We got our harnesses on and I have to say it was quite uncomfortable but I persevered and went through the training they give you. We then headed off on our to start our crazy tree top adventure!

I have to say that whilst I really enjoyed myself I really had to fight to find some inner strength to get through some parts! The worst bit for me was the cargo nets – you have to literally jump from a high platform into a net and climb up the net onto another platform! Now I was still achey from pole dancing and I have realised I have NO upper body strength at all to pull myself up!

One of my favourite bits was the zip wire, all my worries banished away when I realised the line wouldn’t dip & when we had finished I wanted to go back just to do the zip wire – even if jumping off the ledge is the scariest thing in the world!

Overall I really enjoyed my experience of go ape & would definately do it again!
