Ladies Night

Saturday night was great fun, our 2nd annual aunties/nieces/cousins/cousin in law/sister in law night out. Just generally the younger female generation of the family on a boozy night out! Our group has grown since this all started many years ago, when we had planned days out in London. However, more recently we have decided to stick to food and drinks – beacuse lets not lie, who doesnt love food and drink!

Our venue of choice was Turtle Bay & Sprinkles in Southampton, however a few of us met up early to hit the Christmas Market before hand! Here is a lovely selection of photo’s of our evening!

Beautiful Weekend

How B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L has the weather been on the south coast for the past week? We have been truly blessed with gorgeous summer sun and I even have a little tan going on!

Earlier last week I had decided that Matt and I needed a little adventure, we have been spending a lot of time putting our stamp on the house that we have kinda gotten a little lost and forgotten what it was like just being us. One thing that people don’t tell you when you are preparing to move in is that all those little date evenings or random weekends in the forest or down the beach. So in a bid to spruce life up a bit, I told Matt to be ready to leave the house at 8.30am Saturday as I was taking us out for the day.

I had my sights set on Durdle Door – I have seen a lot of nice pictures and posts about it and my brother has been recently so I thought we could both do with some sea air and peaceful surroundings.

So I cooked up some bacon sarnies for the drive down and headed out on the road, we got stuck in a bit of traffic around the Bournemouth area which isn’t unusual when the weather is like this and made it to Durdle Door in around 2 hours. We parked up, paid for 2 hours parking and started to walk down, neither of us could understand why after so many visits to Weymouth we have never made it here before. The weather was beautiful, it was so so sunny and when you looked across the horizon it felt like you were abroad!

As we reached the bottom of the hill and caught glimpses of the sea and beach below us, neither of us could believe how crystal clear the water was and I instantly regretted not wearing my swim gear as I just wanted to jump right in. We headed down the steep stairs to the main beach looking on to the rock formation and sat on the stones, it was nice just be present for a while and soak in the surroundings and watch all the kayakers and families enjoying their Saturday. We headed back up and spent some time watching 2 dogs playing around in the cove before making our way back up the hill to the car. One thing no-one warned me was just how steep the hill was, of course you realise as you are going down, but nothing can prepare you for the steepness going back up!

We made the decision to head back home via the New Forest and stop off at Burley, we both really like the little village and have often treated ourselves to an ice cream or a cream tea on many of our visits. However, this time as I am on a bit of a health kick (more on that another time), we avoided the Ice Creams and Cream Tea’s and headed to the pub for a cold refreshing drink and some lunch. Weirdly we sat in “our seats” the same seats we sit in every time and they are always available – its weird – I had a really nice Chicken Cesar Salad and Matt had a Burger. The food was fantastic and made even better as we headed out a group of horses had decide to take over the road – perfect photo opportunity and typical of the New Forest!

As we have been to the New Forest many times I figured we wouldn’t need our sat nav to get home……I was wrong. We didn’t really know where we were going and the sign posts didn’t say anywhere we recognised, so Matt got out the sat nav and we started to head out on the right path home. As we were driving down one of the forest roads directly in my eye sight were Highland Cows! Immediately I pulled into the parking bays and got out to take photo’s. I LOVE Highland Cows, I just think they have so much personality and their faces are adorable! It was soo tempting to try and touch one, but the size of their horns I decided viewing from afar was best!

Our evenings had been planned out separately, Matt was having the boys over and I was meeting up with 2 old school friends for food and cocktails. Marci, Jemma and I haven’t all been together since we left school in 2004 – I had seen both of them separately so I knew we all still got on and would have a blast especially as The Slug & Lettuce serve 2-4-1 cocktails. It was lovely to see them both and to catch up after so long, it was just like no time had passed at all and I cant wait to have another girly evening with them both!

Well there you have it my weekend in a nutshell, unfortunately Sunday didn’t go as planned, but Hayley and I are sorting out another date for Brunch and don’t worry, I will take you with us!

Keep Smiling

Cocktails In The Sky

I first read about the Sky Garden probably a year ago, for those of you that have read my last blog you will know that I visited the gorgeous garden in the sky with my lovely friends Hayley & Helen!

Us Gorgeous Ladies!

We headed to the Sky Garden after a gorgeous brunch at The Folly and breezed straight through, there was no queue and we went straight up, our tickets (which were FREE!) were booked for 1pm but we were able to get in a little earlier.

As we headed up in the lift, I was getting butterflies hoping that it was as amazing as I have heard about and that the girls would like it too. However as soon as we walked out the lift I was blown away with how open and light and green it was, we ventured straight out to the balcony to admire the views! I was overwhelmed with how lovely London looks from so high up and was reminded of how I felt the first time I went to Top Of The Roc in New York.

Whilst looking around it made us giggle to see that people looked like they were sat amongst the plants BUT we decided we wanted in and took a seat in one of the sections at the side.

Hayley & I headed down to the bar and got a round of drinks in, I wont lie the cocktails are upwards of £10 so a bit on the pricey side, but when you watch how much effort goes into them you can understand why!

It was just perfect, so relaxed and such a wonderful atmosphere definitely somewhere that I could have just sat and read all day with a cocktail or 2 or 3 or 4! It was just soooo green and luscious, I definately felt like I was sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. It has definately made my decision to ensure when Matt & I purchase our house that we have some sort of garden and greenery as a place to relax.

Weekend Roundup!

I woke up Saturday after a fun night in with the girls on Friday, the cupcakes and cocktails went down a storm and it was really nice to see everyone and have a giggle. There was lots of wedding talk as there was 2 brides over and it was funny to see how different they both are! Here are a few snippets from Friday Night…

I waited for Matt to come home from work on Saturday morning, I admit after clearing up, I spent most of the morning watching re-runs of The Bill. Personally I think its still good all these years on, Matt however just thinks I am sad! He picked me up and I dropped off some Party Lite goodies to a valued customer and then headed on a search to do some Strawberry Picking! The farm we went to had an offer on, basically you could fill a small punnet as much as you could for £3 or a large one for £8, we opted for the smaller punnet and headed off, there were so many little ones out with their parents, it made us both very nostalgic remembering when we were their age picking strawberries with our families….

We spent Saturday evening with my cousin and her fiance, just chilling out having a BBQ. Then Sunday I headed upto Guildford with my Friend Hayley and the rest of Team Bride for a catch up and a mooch round the shops. It was nice to spend some time with them all as we dont have much chance to all meet up, so getting the little ones in some bridesmaid dresses in Debenhams was great and they both looked so pretty…..

Sunday evening Hayley and her Fiance Lee headed over and we had a Cheese & Crackers evening watching the last Top Gear as we currently know it. We had a great time giggling, catching up and just generally feeding our faces!

what a feast!

what a feast!

Today, I am off work. I booked a holiday day to make the most of a quiet house whilst my family are away. I have also been feeling rather negative lately and the fact that the sun is out today and I have started working on my new hobby (will reveal all soon), I feel really refreshed and happy again!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend too and got up to lots of mischief!

A few years ago now for my birthday I a Cupcake & Cocktail night with my girlfriends, we had such a giggle – I’m not sure if it was the cake or the alcohol that made us so giggly! So when my parents announced they were going away, I thought what a fab oppertunity to have the girls over and have another Cupcakes & Cocktails night! So whilst we are all having fun tonight boozing away, you all can take a look at what goodies I have in store!

Bridesmaid Fun!

A couple of weekends ago now my beautiful cousin Trina had her Hen Party! It had been planned out for a few months and when the day got here I was shocked that it had arrived. Trina was very specific about what she wanted do and wanted to play a big part in the planning process, she hosted a ‘Team Bride’ evening and it was decided on Afternoon Tea & a night out in a club with a cocktail class thrown in for good measure!

Me and fellow bridesmaid Hels had a bit of a last minute dilemma over getting her some quirky bridal party bits, but managed to get some sashes, name badges and a veil for Trina to wear. Once everyone had arrived at Trinas that was getting a taxi to the hotel we put on all her fun bits ready for an afternoon out with the girls!

The Blushing Bride

The Blushing Bride

We headed down to a Hotel on the seafront and we’re joined by various family & friends of the bride. We were all then served a lovely afternoon tea, consisting of various finger sandwiches, cake and of course scones! Hels did a lovely little speech thanking everyone for coming and we all chatted and giggled whilst sipping champagne!

To make sure there was plenty of posing preparation for the wedding we got everyone together for photos before heading to Tiger Tiger.

When we arrived at the club we were taken through to one of the rooms where the cocktail making fun commenced! Everyone got to make 2 cocktails from the list and the guys that were teaching us were fantastic and made the night great. We had booked out a booth in the hawaiian themed room and it was HUGE! The drinks kept flowing and there was plenty of dancing!

All in all everyone had a great night including Trina, it was certainly a fun way to celebrate becoming a bride!

Yummy’s In Vegas!

As you know I am headed out to Vegas in just under 6 weeks with Matt, my bestie and her fella! I have been doing some research on places to eat as I love trying new restaurants and experiencing new foods. So I thought I would put together some info for you that I have gathered and maybe it will inspire your upcoming trip to Vegas too!

First Stop is Sugar Factory (http://www.sugarfactory.com/) I have seen a lot of pin’s about this place on Pinterest and when I found out they do a S’Mores Cocktail and Carrot Cake Pancakes as well as Pick & Mix I was sold! Now I am not sure if they do all of those at the Vegas Café, but I am sure there will something on the menu that will tickle my taste buds!

I have never been for brunch, buy whilst on holiday and in Vegas the question has to be “Why Not?!” So I did some hunting and found Buddy V’s (http://buddyvlasvegas.com/) It’s TLC’s Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro’s restaurant in the Grande Canal Shoppes. They don’t just do brunch, they also have Lunch, Dinner, Afternoon & a Desserts menu on offer! I had a look at the Brunch menu, firstly its served buffet style (in my eyes you can never go wrong with!), they offer an all you can drink option for $14.95 and the brunch is $34.95 per head, which considering how much is on offer and the good quality of the food I didn’t think is too bad!

Whilst I was looking at some Vegas bits on Pinterest, I stumbled across a pin about Peppermill Fireside Lounge (http://www.peppermilllasvegas.com/#home ). Initially the picture of a log fire in what looked like a club caught my attention & I thought let’s have a look to see what this is all about! So they have a restaurant and a bar, I have had a look at the menu for the restaurant and its typical American food at a reasonable price – you can’t go wrong! Then I had a sneaky peek at the drinks menu at the bar and their cocktail list is one to be challenged, they also host a happy hour. I definitely want to give this place a visit, even if it’s just for a cocktail!

One of mine and Matt’s favourite places to visit in the stats is Applebee’s we love the food and the atmosphere, so we will definitely make sure we visit one whilst in either Vegas or San Fran. We aren’t opposed to trying chain restaurants and there are 2 that have stuck in my mind from when I was in Indiana last year, Dicks and The Cheesecake Factory! When we had a Vegas “meeting” back in January I was really pleased when Steph & Dan mentioned Dicks too. So for those of you that don’t know, servers at Dicks restaurant pretty much abuse you from the minute you walk in the door. They are well known for their sarcastic comments and taking the mickey out of you! I just think it would be hilarious and something that you would never get in the UK! What is there to say about The Cheesecake Factory……it serves Cheesecake!

I hope I have given you some food for thought and PLEASE share any recommendations you have for me!
